Flat Out Fantastic Ways to Make Extra Bucks with a Flatbed Truck

Warmer weather is on the way.  It’s the perfect time to make some extra money by doing odd jobs.  If you have a Flatbed Truck (or want to get one), here are some excellent ways you can use you work vehicle to make a buck or two and set your own schedule and prices too.

Moving Service

Individuals who are moving are often able to load and unload themselves but lack a vehicle to put to haul it in.  Others may have one item, like a table or couch that needs to be moved to storage or to another location.

Moving companies have been known to charge a pretty penny so if you can beat the “big dogs’” prices, chances are good you can rake up some bucks pretty quickly.  Make sure not to sell yourself short.  Get the word out there and move your bank account forward!

Junk Hauling

While it might seem too easy, just driving a truck full of junk to the landfill or another drop off destination can be quite profitable. You can decide if your labor is available too or if you want to keep it just the use of your truck and your driving skills for hire.

Some people have just one large item they need to be hauled off while others have a garage or yard full.  You can go for generally hauling duties or find a niche. You may even specialize in toting off scrap metal that you can sell to add even more profit to the job.

Junk hauling is big business so don’t be fooled into selling out too cheap.  Research the going prices and get the word out.

Towing Services

Sometimes, a guy just needs a tow.  Also, car lots who are looking to repo frequently rely on an independent individual to do their occasional work.  People who purchase RVs often just need them moved to a specific location such as an RV park.

While there are a few modifications you’ll need to make and a couple of supplies you’ll want to grab, towing services don’t come cheap.  Price accordingly while still offering a tempting discount.

Furniture and Appliance Hauling

Hook up with a furniture or appliance store or two and make your services available.  Many smaller outfits don’t retain a hauling company because it’s in their best financial interest to call on an independent when the need arises.

You might consider working with several retailers.  Work out your price based on mileage, labor, and your cost as well. You might even put an ad online so a company or consumer in a pinch can give you a call on the spot.  Don’t forget to add in a fee for same-day service!
