If you’re tossing around the idea of starting your own service company, it’s always wise to do a little research into what kind of businesses are trending. The pest control industry has been flying high for years, but there’s a new niche that’s the big buzz. -ORGANIC pest control.

Bug Buzz

A recent survey concluded that over 80% of all Americans feel that environmentally friendly products are important. With more than 45 million pounds of pesticides used in US homes and gardens yearly, many feel it’s time for a change – for the sake of the earth and for health reasons.

For the past decade, consumers have been steadily turning from the use of toxic products, like chemically-laden bug sprays, and are discovering new ways to treat old problems.  [...]

An alarming 500,000 accidents are estimated to occur
annually involving 18-wheeler trucks on American highways.  Of those, around 5,000 fatalities result. Coupled with driver error, mechanical failures were a leading cause of the wrecks with twenty-seven percent of the trucks being found to have brake issues with engine problems and lighting system failures being close contending culprits as well.

The fact of the matter is that every time you get behind the wheel of a Commercial Vehicle, you are not only taking your life into your hands but the life of others on the road too.  Driving in a safe truck just makes sense.

Reasons Truckers Take Risks

Truck drivers are known to be among the most stand-up individuals in the nation.  Sure, [...]

Breaker, breaker, one nine!  Got your ears on, good buddy?  From the iconic 1977 movie “Smokey and the Bandit” starring Burt Reynolds to the hit “Sad Song Teddy Bear” by Red Savine, CBs, or Citizen Band Radios, have been coloring our world since they were invented in 1947.

Originally, CBs were called Class D Citizen’s Radio.  They were first used in the military.  Users were limited and highly regulated and were required to hold a license to operate one.

In 1977, all that changed.  Not only was “Smokey and the Bandit” a blowout at the box office, but 17 new channels were also added to the frequency access.  Licensing was no longer a requirement.  A new trend was born.

Truckers have used CB radios since 1973 when the industry experienced a ton of [...]

Winter will be here before you know it.  It’s not too early to winterize your Commercial Spray Truck to make sure you don’t get left out in the cold.

Why Winterize?

Hopefully, your Spray Truck has had a busy and profitable season and it’s time to give it a little TLC.  Whether you’ll be tucking it away for the winter or gearing up for business to boom in the upcoming cold months, if you take care of your money-making machine, it will take care of you.

You want to protect your investment from harsh elements like ice and snow and allow it to recover from the dog days of summer you put it through.  Both winter and summer can be tough on truck parts so the change of season is a great time to tend to some upkeep.

Hurricane Laura quickly turned into a Category 4 hurricane as it lashed into the Texas and Louisiana coastline shortly after midnight on today, August 27.  With winds up to 135 miles-per-hour, the storm tore down powerlines, uprooted trees, and blew roofs and walls off homes and businesses in the Texas town of Port Arthur to Louisiana’s Lake Charles and beyond.

It is estimated that over 500,000 evacuated or are displaced.  One death has been reported so far.  Even though the blunt of the hurricane has come to a head and is now subsiding, the devastation will be felt for months to come.

Among those the blow will affect are truckers who make their livings up and down the highways.  Many are too dangerous to travel and will be for an indefinite period of time.

Tomorrow, sixty-five-year-old JD Spor from the sleepy little mountain town of Norwood, Colorado will have surgery to correct his neck.  Once he’s recovered, he’ll have another surgery to begin repairing his back.  He is looking forward to the procedures because as he stated, “I’ve lived with the pain long enough.”

Like many truck drivers who are both retired and actively working, JD’s back and neck issues are a direct result of driving.  Years ago, when JD started out in the industry, he was behind the wheel of a massive logging truck.  “And it was a doozy,” he explained.  The old logging truck was as rough and tumble as they get, tossing him to and fro.  The gear shift was even worse because it would stick.  “Going up and down the narrow, steep mountain backroads, I had to put everything into [...]

It’s a dream come true for some, a real-life sci-fi movie in the making.  But, it’s a nightmare for others, mainly the real-live truckers who have kept our nation moving for decades.

I a recent report, the highly acclaimed (and trusted) news reporting and broadcasting entity, Sixty Minutes, covered a highly controversial but very real subject – driverless trucks.  The problem for those who are not fans of the new step in technology is that the automated trucking is inevitable.  That reality is sending signals of impending doom to the thousands of truckers who are at risk of losing their livelihood if the endeavor becomes a reality.  And…it will.  Whether it will be a successful one is all that is left up in the air.

What many Americans (including truck drivers) are not aware of is that companies [...]
